Westbound Washington Street closed from N 4th to NW 4th

071519.N.BD.SevereWeatherSinkhole — A Brainerd police squad is parked near a washout that occurred in the midst of torrential rain Sunday night, July 14, at Washington and Chippewa streets. According to the police scanner, officials contacted the Minnesota Department of Transportation with concerns the westbound lanes of Washington Street were "severely compromised." Westbound Washington Street in Brainerd was closed between North Fourth and Northwest Fourth streets just before 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14.

A washout formed on the westbound sidewalk adjacent to the bridge near Chippewa Street as a result of the severe storms in the area.
