The Brainerd lakes area got treated to another round of wet and windy weather this weekend.

A strong thunderstorm rolled through southern Crow Wing County about 3:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported.

The weather service warned the storm could contain wind gusts of up to 40 mph, half-inch hail and lightning. The storm began over St. Mathias and made its way northeast at 35 mph.

After the cell rolled through the area, the Brainerd Fire Department was paged to Second Avenue Northeast in Brainerd for a report of a tree on a power line. Responders were paged about 4:15 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 210 and Mill Avenue because the traffic lights were out.

The weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 4:15 p.m. warning of a line of strong thunderstorms along a line from near Baxter to near Lastrup, moving northeast at 45 mph.

Residents may have been hoping for a drier day Sunday after nearly seven-tenths of an inch fell on the area Saturday, the weather service reported.
The wet weekend came on the heels of two doses of severe weather earlier in the week, with powerful storms hitting the area Wednesday and Friday. The Friday storm prompted emergency management officials to seek a disaster declaration for the county.

Those looking for relief from the wet weather may have to wait a few days longer. The weather service forecast includes a more than 50 percent chance of rain for Monday and Tuesday, with sunny skies returning Wednesday.
