Organizers of Sertoma's Winter Wonderland of holiday lights at the Northland Arboretum were looking for a way to honor health care workers for their efforts and sacrifice during the coronavirus pandemic.

They decided to open the light display Monday, Dec. 21, solely for the health care workers in a community thank you event. Winter Wonderland is typically open Wednesday through Saturday nights.

Anyone interested in joining is welcome to line up with signs and say thank you at the Winter Wonderland exit. People interested in doing so are asked to park in the lower parking lot off Excelsior Road behind the Lakes 12 movie theater and walk to the exit by the Northland Arboretum building.

The gates will be open from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

"Let's have a big crowd to show our thanks to health care provider friends and neighbors who have toiled so diligently under such trying circumstances. Sertoma hopes to see you there!" the organization stated in a social media post.
