BAXTER - Work on the Woida Road project is being wrapped up for winter.

The Baxter City Council heard an update Tuesday. The road project involving Woida Road, Wildflower and Franklin drives won't be completed this year. With winter's early arrival, the project could not be completed this fall as expected.

"You can see outside the weather, we are not going to get this project done," said Aric Welch, consulting engineer from Widseth Smith Nolting.

Still on the to-do list is putting up a barrier or fence to prevent people from using a temporary road from Wildflower Drive to Clearwater Road set up to give residents a way to exit the neighborhood while construction work blocked access. Vehicles are continuing to use the temporary road and at a fast pace according to reports to city staff.

The city will be sitting down with Pratt's Affordable Excavating and Borden Excavating in December to come up with a plan on completing the project next year.

"Before old man winter came through that grass was picture perfect," Mayor Darrel Olson said of the work being done on the project. "It was looking awful nice. It's just too bad. It's Minnesota, I guess."
