GLENCOE - A 25-year-old Prior Lake woman who was allegedly texting while driving has been charged in the death of a bicyclist this past spring.
Emily Louise Givens hit Penny Verdeck, 40, of Glencoe while she was riding her bike on a road near Glencoe on April 26, according to a complaint filed in McLeod County court.
Givens faces a charge of criminal vehicular homicide resulting in a death, which carries a prison term of up to about 10 years. She is also charged with careless driving and texting while driving.
Verdeck was the mother of two young daughters.
