A 19-year-old Onamia woman, Devonn Rose Mitchell, was charged with felony simple robbery and possession of pharmacy medications this week in Mille Lacs County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Mitchell, the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department was dispatched Nov. 21 to the Grand Casino Mille Lacs to a report of robbery. Officers learned a woman was playing on a slot machine, had $80 in $20 bills in her hand and Mitchell grabbed $60 and ran through the casino. Officers watched the surveillance footage of Mitchell taking the money from the woman. Mitchell was stopped by casino security, however, were unable to detain her. Mitchell threw $20 at security.
Officers located Mitchell behind a house on Atagge Drive. Mitchell went into the house and officers knocked on the door and she let them in. Mitchell was arrested. Police found an uncapped hypodermic needle in her front pocket of her sweatshirt.
