A woman died after initiating a high speed pursuit, reaching speeds of 90 mph, that entered the quiet city of Laporte Friday morning.
The chase began somewhere outside of Laporte and headed east on Highway 200. The female suspect lost control of her car on a 90-degree turn into the town just before noon.
It was unclear how many or which agency's squad cars were chasing her, but the police radio crackled with calls for help and responding officers. The driver was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled.
Hubbard County and the State Patrol were on the scene of the crash.
The crash cut off traffic at Laporte’s main intersection during the busy holiday weekend. Officers directed traffic around the scene.
