Women's cancer support group meets Feb. 8

Having cancer is often one of the most stressful experiences in a person's life. But support groups help many people cope with the emotional aspects of cancer by providing a safe place to share and work through feelings and challenges.

Having cancer is often one of the most stressful experiences in a person's life. But support groups help many people cope with the emotional aspects of cancer by providing a safe place to share and work through feelings and challenges.

Any woman with a cancer diagnosis is invited to a group facilitated by professionals, which meets 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. the second Friday of the month at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. The next meeting is Feb. 8.

This group is designed for women to be able to share their experiences with other women that have gone through a cancer diagnosis. Topics include:

• How to manage side effects,

• How to communicate with a health care team and family members, and

• How to respond to various emotions and feelings.

Speakers will also be asked to attend and discuss various topics throughout the year. For more information about the Women's Cancer Support Group, call Amy Renner or Erin Kennedy in the cancer center at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center at 218-828-7685.
