DULUTH - The worker who died Monday in a construction accident on the Bong Bridge linking Duluth and Superior was identified Tuesday as an 18-year-old central Wisconsin man.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Kelsey Hagenson, and reported that he suffered from "multiple blunt force injuries due to a pedestrian-forklift mishap." He died at a Duluth hospital about an hour after the incident.
According to an online obituary, Hagenson was from Stanley, Wis., and had graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School earlier this year. He loved the outdoors, according to his obituary, and particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling.
Another worker was injured in the incident that happened just after 7 a.m. Monday in the Superior-bound lanes, which currently are closed to traffic. Hagenson and the injured worker were employees of Lunda Construction of Black River Falls, Wis., the main contractor working on the two-year rehabilitation project of the span.
Neither man was operating the forklift involved in the incident, authorities said.

The Duluth Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration have been involved in the investigation.
The name of the injured worker has not been released.
