The Brainerd Public Library will host art classes for youths beginning with the first class at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The classes will bring the past alive through craft projects celebrating Minnesota's history and people. The projects picked reflect Minnesota stories, legends about people, and things that make Minnesotans smile. All of the crafts can be found in "Making History: Have a Blast with Crafts" by Wendy Freshman and Kristin Jansson.
The classes are:
โข 2 p.m. Wednesday, class is "Gone Fishing Ice House," for ages 7-12.
โข 10:15 a.m. June 14, "Burning Spear Story Staff," for all ages.

โข 2 p.m. June 15, "Playful Marionette," ages 7-12.
โข 2 p.m. June 29, "Metal Foil Repousse Pendant," ages 7-12.
All classes will be taught by Alice Larson. Larson is a Bemidji State University graduate with a bachelor of art's degree in elementary education/art education kindergarten-12th grade. She has a master's degree from St. Cloud State University in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in gifted education. Larson has worked in the Brainerd School District for 33 years teaching the AGATE program. She currently is an active member of the Crossing Arts Alliance and frequently teaches second Saturday art classes for the Crossing Flipside Kids and started an after-school art club at Lowell Elementary.
These free programs are made possible with funding from Kitchigami Regional Library through the state of Minnesota's Legacy Amendment funds to preserve arts and cultural heritage. No registration needed.
