The Brainerd Public Library will host a writers workshop called "Somewhere Between Poem and Prose and Something Else Entirely" for middle and high school students from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday.
This class will explore the short "short" story, the prose poem and everything that doesn't fit in a tidy little genre box. Students should come ready to read and puzzle over many examples and write just as many of their own.
Register for this free class by calling the library at 218-829-5574.
The class will be instructed by Sonya Chamberlain, who has an master's degree in Creative Writing (Poetry) from The Writers Program at Warren Wilson College and has taught writing to students in a variety of settings from urban alternative high schools to small town arts collectives and elementary schools.
There also will be a writers workshop from 9-11 a.m. April 23 called "How to Attract Readers or Publishers with an Engaging First Page," with Angela Foster.
