Wednesday, June 10, marked confirmation of the first coronavirus-related death in Morrison County.

A news release from the county reported on the death, which was a resident in their 70s.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of this individual,” stated Brad Vold, Morrison County public health and social services director, in the release. “This death reminds us how important it is to continue working to protect each other during this outbreak.”

The county also added two new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, and officials noted community transmission of the virus continues to occur. Of the 53 cases, 47 should no longer need isolation and one person remains hospitalized.

Todd County saw three laboratory-confirmed cases added to its running tally Wednesday for a total of 364 cases. This is the 25th day in a row Todd’s numbers have increased, although the rate has slowed since the month of June began. As of late last week, approximately 75% of Todd’s cases were attributed to outbreaks at meatpacking facilities in the county.

Crow Wing County added another case to its data Wednesday as well. The most notable change in Crow Wing’s statistics was an increase of those out of isolation from 66 to 72. This means there are currently 16 active cases of the disease in the county, while the majority of those who’ve tested positive have recovered.

Case numbers were again adjusted down by one in Cass County, which has been a regular occurrence with that county in particular. Cass County Administrator Josh Stevenson previously noted some confusion has occurred with Cass County, North Dakota.
