6 more regional COVID-19 deaths as decline of new cases continues

This week represented the least number of new cases in Crow Wing County since the last week of October.

The state of Minnesota reported its second-highest death toll due to COVID-19 Friday, Dec. 11, and six locals were among the 94 residents who died.

Two more Crow Wing County residents succumbed to the disease — ages 60-64 and 95-99 — bringing the week’s total to six deaths among county residents. Also recording deaths Friday were Aitkin County (70-74 years old), Morrison County (70-74), Todd County (70-74) and Wadena County (85-89).

The number of new cases continues to decline in the north-central region including Aitkin, Cass, Crow Wing, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties. Between Dec. 4 and Friday, a total of 1,108 cases were reported, down by more than one-quarter compared to the previous week. This week represented the least number of new cases in Crow Wing County since the last week of October.

  • Aitkin — 884 (+74 since Friday, Dec. 4), with 31 (+1) deaths.

  • Cass — 1,705 (+158), with 13 (+1) deaths.

  • Crow Wing — 4,161 (+264), with 46 (+6) deaths.

  • Mille Lacs — 1,824 (+177), with 37 (+3) deaths.

  • Morrison — 2,692 (+177), with 36 (+5) deaths.

  • Todd — 2,077 (+150), with 16 (+2) deaths.

  • Wadena — 987 (+108), with nine (+2) deaths.

NOTE: These numbers are cumulative since March 21 and many are out of isolation.
