The Minnesota Department of Health reported the deaths of eight more regional residents over the holiday weekend, including three in Crow Wing County, due to COVID-19.
Crow Wing County residents who perished included a 65- to 69-year-old man, whose death occurred Tuesday, along with a man age 85-89 and a woman age 95-99, both of whom died Wednesday. Those three deaths were reported Sunday, along with the death of a 75- to 79-year-old in Aitkin County and an 80- to 84-year-old in Todd County. Saturday’s report included two Morrison County residents — one 75-79 and one 95-99 — and a Todd County resident, age 80-84.
Five more hospitalizations were reported among Crow Wing County residents between Friday and Monday, Nov. 30, representing a slowdown in the rate of hospitalizations compared to recent weeks. This is reflected in statewide statistics as well, along with a decrease in overall new cases. State health officials cautioned, however, not to draw conclusions from any one day of data, particularly surrounding a holiday.

“We are still in a very critical spot in this pandemic in Minnesota. This is the worst spot we’ve been in since March. That’s what the data tell us,” Minnesota Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm said Monday.

Aitkin — 778 (+61 since Friday, Nov. 27), with 30 (+1) deaths.
Cass — 1,460 (+127), with 10 deaths.
Crow Wing — 3,647 (+201), with 34 (+3) deaths.
Mille Lacs — 1,570 (+119), with 31 deaths.
Morrison — 2,338 (+98), with 29 (+2) deaths.
Todd — 1,825 (+86), with 14 (+2) deaths.
Wadena — 815 (+68), with six deaths.
NOTE: These numbers are cumulative since March 21 and many are out of isolation.
