FORT RIPLEY – More than 130 Camp Ripley employees, Veterans, Service members and retirees of Camp Ripley participated in the 48th Annual Golf Tournament Sept 23 at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course.

“Events like this encourage team building and are very important to the success of our mission,” said 1st Lt. Brett Farniok, of the Camp Ripley Operations Office. “These opportunities not only help us as an organization, but build goodwill as well,” he added.

The 18-hole scramble started with each foursome teeing off at noon on one of the most beautiful courses in central Minnesota. Various sections and organizations working on Camp Ripley formed teams of four. These teams ranged from enthusiastic experienced golfers to those just learning the sport and motivated armatures.

“I love golfing, I only keep score to laugh about how bad I’m doing,” said tournament participant, Kara Jacobson. “Great weather, great company and great fun is what this is all about.”

The Golf Tournament was a non-duty event. All military participants were in a non-duty or vacation status. This allowed them all an opportunity to relax and focus on fun and social interaction.

The most exciting moment of the day was the hole-in-one recorded by Perry Nouis, an area business owner. Noius aced the 217 yard par three during the Camp Ripley Golf Tournament. Perry’s hole-in-one is the first ever ace accomplished during the 48 year history of the tournament.
