Deaths attributed to COVID-19 complications rose to 18 among Crow Wing County residents Thursday, Sept. 10, following the announcement of two more deaths.
The Minnesota Department of Health reported the two additional deaths Thursday — one person died Sept. 3 while the other died Sept. 5. According to Crow Wing County, a person in their 80s and a person who was older than 100 — one man and one woman — were the latest residents to succumb to complications from the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The two Crow Wing County residents were among 15 deaths reported by the health department Thursday, which is only the seventh day of double-digit deaths from the disease since June 29.
In the health department’s weekly COVID-19 report, the most recent data showed Crow Wing County, along with Aitkin, Cass and Mille Lacs counties, experienced upticks in the positivity rate among those tested during the week of Aug. 23-29. Between 3-5% of COVID-19 tests completed on Crow Wing County, Cass and Aitkin residents yielded positive results. In Mille Lacs County, that figure was 5-7%. Statewide during the last week of August, 5.5% of Minnesotans tested were found to be positive.
