Crow Wing Energized would like to give veterans a platform to share their stories and their struggles with mental health issues.
The National Veterans Suicide Prevention's annual report shows the total number of deaths by suicide among veterans remains at very high levels. After reaching an all-time high in 2017, the numbers declined in 2018 and 2019. Despite that, 6,261 veterans still died by suicide in 2019.
Crow Wing Energized will host a free virtual event from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, so veterans can share their experiences to help people better understand and showcase ways people can help.
Speakers include veterans Erik Flowers, Marty Halverson, Connie Herman and Jim Newgord. There will be a showing of a short video entitled “15 Things Veterans Want You to Know,” followed by a panel discussion.
Registration is required to participate in the online event. To register, visit https://crowwingenergized.org/events .
