Essentia Health now offers walk-in care for orthopedic injuries

Essentia Health's orthopedic specialists have training and experience in diagnosing and treating conditions in the musculoskeletal system. This system includes the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, nerves and tendons.

Essentia Health is now offering walk-in care specifically for orthopedic injuries.

The Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Orthopedics Clinic in Brainerd is open for walk-in care 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The clinic’s care team includes Dr. Andrew Zhao, a sports medicine physician.

“The walk-in clinic is a great way for patients to receive high-quality orthopedic care for any new injuries,” Zhao stated in a news release.

The clinic will provide care for a wide range of injuries, such as:

  • Sudden injuries that cause swelling or pain;

  • Simple broken bones with no bone sticking out of the skin;

  • Muscle, tendon, ligament, and joint strains and sprains;

  • Broken collarbones;

  • Shoulder injuries;

  • Torn biceps, triceps or quadriceps;

  • Wrist and forearm injuries; and

  • Lower extremity (foot, ankle, knee, hip) injuries.

On-site services include X-ray, casting and splinting, braces and stitches for simple lacerations. St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center is available in the same building as the clinic if patients need physical or occupational therapy.
