Man who reportedly said he was sick of being followed by cops found asleep inside police entryway

MANKATO, Minn. — A homeless man is facing drug charges after he was found sleeping in the entryway of the Mankato Public Safety Center.

Officers found Scott Clarence Hoeft, 54, Wednesday morning, March 6, according to a court complaint. He reportedly said he was sick of being followed by law enforcement. After informing him he was at a police station, officers discovered Hoeft had a warrant and took him into custody.

In Hoeft's possession, officers allegedly found prescription pills, a pipe containing methamphetamine residue and syringes.

Hoeft was charged Friday in Blue Earth County District Court with felony drug possession and misdemeanor needle possession.
