If this spring goes any faster it’s going to be summer before I know it.

Trying to fit everything in is getting a little hectic. So many choices, turkey hunting, mushroom picking and crappie fishing are all on the list. I have to admit I’ve been slacking but we did sneak out and find some morels this week hopefully with a little more rain we will have a good year, unlike last year when they were pretty much nonexistent.

I haven’t got a chance to bag a turkey yet but the Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt at Camp Ripley was one to remember. The stars definitely aligned for this year's hunt, the weather was perfect and the turkeys were plentiful and willing to come to the calls . This year 19 birds were harvested on the two-day hunt, which if I’m not mistaken is a record.

Hopefully this is a sign for the rest of the events this year and every one of them goes this well. Well, next week we have to get ready for the fishing opener so it’s time to get ready. And on a side note , if you do venture out in the woods bring lots of tick spray, they are absolutely horrible this year.
