Marlys Marie Dehning, age 82 of Brainerd formerly of Deerwood, died at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd on December 1, 2022. She was born to Walter and Rose (Specht) Petersen on September 25, 1940 in Aitkin. Marlys married James Dehning on December 17, 1960 in Iron Hub. She was a retired Physical Therapy Assistant serving Cedarbrook Manor, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and Woodland Good Samaritan. Marlys was an avid bowler with the Cuyuna Lanes League.
Pine River - Galen J. Filsmyer, age 83, of Brainerd and formerly Pine River, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Essentia St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. He was born September 3, 1939, in Pine River to Norbert and Edith (Berg) Filsmyer. He attended school in Pine River and joined the Army for a brief time. He worked at Standard Oil for nine years and had his own business, Filsmyer Disposal for 21 years. Galen was a lead singer for Mosquito Creek and Country Swingers. His band played around the local area.
Joann K. Luukkonen, 75, of Brainerd, passed away surrounded by her family on December 1, 2022, after a 30 year long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was a strong, independent, and determined woman. She was a role model, talented quilter, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Christina High-Olson, age 54 of Brainerd, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2022. Although it was a short battle with cancer, she fought valiantly. Her strength and courage was admirable.
Donna Marie (Krantz) Biers, 1941-2022, slipped away quietly on Monday evening, November 28 after a full weekend of birthday and Thanksgiving visitors. Donna enjoyed 55 years of marriage to James Alfred Biers who left her just two years ago, nearly to the day. Together, they had four children, Mark, Mindy, Kris, and Kari.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 2, 2022 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for Jeannine L. Paxton, age 93, who passed away Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Rory Swenson will officiate and burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.

Mildred E. Winterowd, age 95 of Deerwood died at her home on November 26, 2022. She was born to Arthur and Jessie (Adair) Johnson on January 17, 1927 in Brainerd. Mildred was a retired Crow Wing County Health Aid.
Jeffrey Michael Hurst, age 61, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Jeff was born on Sept 8, 1961 and was adopted by Robert & Joanne (Jewett) Hurst.
Genevieve M. Tank, 79 passed away on November 25, 2022 and is rejoicing with the Lord now. She was born on 1/29/1943 daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy Valder of Hoven SD and attended school in Hoven SD. She was married in 1963 and moved to Brainerd MN where she lived until her death. She retired from the State of Minnesota in 2015. She enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked to bake, cook and playing cards. Survivors include Gary Tank, Greg Tank, both of Brainerd, Gerald and (Kritsana) Tank AZ, 7 grandchildren Kara and (Garrett) Heglund, Megan and (Brett) Johnson, Travis and (Jordan) Tank, Gary N. and (Chandra)Tank, Greg and (Kelsi) Greely, Ashley and Emelia Tank. 6 Great grandchildren are Arabelle, Asher, Adleigh and Aiden Greely, Thomas and Oliver Heglund. She is survived by 4 siblings Bill (RaeAnn) Valder, FL, Jean (Curtis) Buechler, NE, Judy Valder, SD, and Jim Valder SD. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Dorothy Valder and nephew Terry Buechler.
Catherine Ann (Kitty) Olson, 88 years old, went home to her heavenly Father on Thanksgiving Day.
Jacob E. Christensen, passed away on Sunday, November 20th, 2022. A tragic accident at his home in Duluth, MN, took his life too soon. Jake was born July 8th, 1984, in Nisswa, MN, to Jim and Debra Christensen. He was the middle child and kept his parents on their toes. As a child he spent his time playing baseball and learning to hunt from his father. Jake loved duck hunting and deer hunting. Goose hunting was his favorite, and many memories were made, even a broken arm his first time out. While attending Pequot Lakes High School, he participated in baseball and loved it until he graduated in 2003.
