The funeral service for Doris Kelley-Thiessen, of Hackensack and formerly of Bertha, MN, was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hewitt, with Pastor Gary Brink presiding. Doris, age 96, passed away with family at her side, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Birchview Gardens Assisted Living in Hackensack, MN.

Doris was born to Adolf and Katherine (Klausses) Lippert on March 22, 1920 in Bertha, MN. After completing high school in Bertha she attended Moorhead State College. A lawn wedding was held June 19, 1937, when Doris married Bernard Kelley at her parents' home. Doris was widowed when Bernard passed away in December 1967 at the age of 49. She cared for her children after completing college and worked as a school librarian. Doris later married Peter Theissen of Sidney, MT. Her spare hours were filled with reading the Bible, participating in Church of the Nazarene activities, and gardening. She was a member of the Lioness Club in Lyle, MN, the Senior Center in Bertha, Meals on Wheels and a Bible study group.

Doris was preceded in death by husbands Bernard Kelley and Peter Thiessen; parents Adolf and Katherine; brother Arwin Lippert; and sister Dorothy Blashack.

She will be missed by her son Mervin (Renee) Kelley of Fargo, ND; daughters Marilyn (Leonard) Howard of Fergus Falls, Virginia "Gin" (Bud) Smith of Mountain Home, ID, Kaureen (Reno) Wells of Hackensack and Angie (Steve) Schlossberg of Troy, NY; step-son Dwight Thiessen of Savage MT; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; sister Delores Wedul of Winona; along with many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were be Doris' grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Lance Howard, Luke Howard, Jake Schlossberg, Brent Kelley, Payton Carlson, George Selbher, Hunter Lund and Rob Carlson.

Burial was next to her husband Bernard in Oak Valley Cemetery, Hewitt, MN.

Arrangements were with Schuller Family Funeral Homes' Domian-Anderson Chapel, Bertha, MN. (
