Marilyn A. Rabehl

Marilyn Annetta Rabehl, 80 of Baxter was called to her heavenly home on August 4, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born on April 2, 1937 to John and Charolette (Cummins) Clasen at her grandparents' home in Glenwood, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Villard. She graduated from Villard High School in 1955. She became a secretary in the Pope County Extension office where she met her husband James Rabehl. They were married on September 20, 1958 and moved to St.Paul where she worked in the Director's Office of the Minnesota Extension Service, U of M, while Jim completed his schooling.

Upon Jim's graduation they moved to Brainerd. Marilyn worked as a receptionist-secretary at First Federal Savings and Loan advancing to Loan Officer before resigning to move to Jordon, MN. While in Jordon Marilyn volunteered as a county 4-H Creative Arts Project Chairman and served on the State Creative Arts Project Development Committee.

The Rabehl Family returned to Brainerd in 1971 where Marilyn was a stay at home Mom. She became a lecturer for Weight Watcher's Intl. in Brainerd, Staples, Walker and a lecturer trainer for the Bemidji to St. Cloud area.

Marilyn served as a 4-H leader for 35 years. She was involved as a leader on club, county and State levels. She was the leader of the Baxter Sandpipers 4-H Club for many years. She was also the Food and Nutrition project leader for most of those years as well. Marilyn served on the State Food and Nutrition Project Development Committee. She chaperoned many 4-H trips to the State Fair, camps and Citizenship Washington Focus. She attended National Food and Nutrition Conference in Washington D.C. She was also a member and Board member of MAVA (Minnesota Adult Leader Association) for many years.

Marilyn worked at Bremer Bank for a short time before becoming the Assistant Secretary for Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. A position she held for almost 25 years until she was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Marilyn's strong faith and belief will be remembered by all who knew her. Marilyn was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd. She played in the Bell Choir.

Marilyn was a member and treasurer of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and a member of The Crossing Arts Alliance.

Marilyn also spent many hours tying knots for her business Macrame by Marilyn. She had many shows in her home and later in life went to craft shows with her sisters to sell their goods.

Marilyn had many interests in life including her cookbook collection and other memorabilia.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters Kim (Troy) Kainz of Moorhead and Karla (Daniel) Wahl of Brainerd; grandchildren Kya Rabehl, Logan, Tanner and McKenzie Kainz, Matthew Rabehl, Danielle, Cody, Anna and Joe Wahl; great grandchildren Kaylin Wahl and Rikki Lyn Rabehl; sisters JoAnne (Corky) Krogstad of Alexandria, and Elsie (Al) Husom of Pillager; brother in law George (Carol) Rabehl of Anoka; and a number of nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, son Kent, brother Donald, her parents and Jim's parents.

The family would also like to thank St. Criox Hospice for all the wonderful support and care they gave to Marilyn and her family in this very difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 10th at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Rev. Paul Beigner officiating. Burial will be in the Baxter City Cemetery. Visitation times are from 4-7:00 pm Wednesday at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home and Thursday one hour prior to Services
