Thomas Michael Larson
Thomas (Tom) Larson, of Brainerd, was born on February 29, 1932 in Cass Lake, MN and passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 11th. He graduated from Cass Lake High School in 1950 and then attended Bemidji State Teachers College, graduating with a Business Administration degree in 1955. He then served his country in the US Navy from 1955 to 1957. He enjoyed his time while stationed on the island of Guam and made lifelong friends during that time. He married Marlene Ryding, also of Cass Lake, on April 26, 1958. The moved to Brainerd in 1960 where he joined the accounting firm of Freeman and Kummet. He later became a partner in the new firm of Kummet, Larson and Bluth & Co. He enjoyed working with his clients and staff, many of them becoming great friends. His passion in life was being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and logger. He loved his chainsaw and chopping wood for his own needs and others. He was involved in many sports throughout his life as a player, coach and parent spectator. With this passion of sports and young athletics he helped form the Brainerd Sports Boosters, that is still active today. He was also involved in Brainerd Lions Club and Lutheran Church of the Cross. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Marlene; son, Todd (Debbie) Larson of Bemidji and two daughters, Kari (Steve) Stoxen of Brainerd, and Jana (Dan) Lueck-Bzdok of Pequot Lakes; one brother, Terrance Larson of Brainerd; five grandchildren, Emily (Jonas) Dale, Mattie Lueck, Thomas Stoxen, Chris Larson and Erik Stoxen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond and Charles Larson. A Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa with Pastor Kari Williamson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. followed by a short service in the Memorial Garden behind the church. Arrangements with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home.
