Angeline Gillson

Angeline (Angie) Gillson, 70, passed away at her home on November 24, 2020. Angie was born on February 3, 1950, in Brainerd, MN, to the late J. Wesley and Joyce Carlson. She grew up in the Pillager area and graduated from Pillager High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Gillson on September 6, 1969. Angie lived all of her years in Pillager except for four years when the family lived in Oregon where she volunteered at Faith Christian School where her daughters attended. From the mid-ā80s to Angieās retirement in 2016, Angie was employed as a Personal Care Attendant at Kingwood Good Samaritan Home, Bethany Good Samaritan Home, the Brainerd State Hospital until its closure in 2003 and from 2003 to her retirement in 2016 at a group home for developmentally disabled adults near Staples.
Angie was a member of Casino Assembly of God Church and for several years volunteered in childrenās ministries as a preschool Childrenās Church teacher, as well as a substitute Sunday School teacher. In addition, she taught weekly release-time classes for Pillager Elementary students and organized and led a weekly Bible study at Riverside Assisted Living. Angie had a servantās heart and loved the Lord, her church, and spending time in Bible reading and prayer. She cherished her daughters and grandchildren, whether spending time with two of her daughters and grandson in Pillager or her oldest daughter and family in Columbia, MD. She enjoyed many visits with her siblings and families, other relatives, and friends, too. Also dear to her heart was her cat Muffin, who adored only Angie.
Angie will be greatly missed by her children Rebecca (Roger) Windschitl of Columbia, MD, Shelly of Pillager, MN, and Amy Sofie of Pillager, MN; four grandchildren, Robert, Rylan, and Regan Windschitl and Kyler Sofie; sisters Shirley Hynes of Little Falls, MN, Marian (Dan) Gage of Lynden, WA, LaVonne (Brad) VanVickle of Pillager, MN, John (Kari) Carlson of Rapid City, SD, and Steven (Jessica) Carlson of Buffalo, MN; brothers-in-law Calvin Gillson of Motley, MN, Donald (Sher) Gillson of Pillager, MN, Jerry (TJ) Gillson of Halsey, OR, sisters-in-law Barbara Mares of Staples, MN, and Arlene (Marlon) Johnson of Staples, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2009 after 40 years of marriage, her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, brother-in-law John Hynes, and sister-in-law Carol Houston. www.halvorsontaylor.com
