Anona was born February 25, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Henry and Harriet (Reese) Reichhardt. Anona grew up and graduated from high school in the Philadelphia area. A fan of the Philadelphia Althetics’ baseball team, Anona had to bite her tongue when she matched up with a Yankee Fan on a blind date. Although, she never learned to like the Yankees, she did meet the love of her life on that date. She and Anton “Tony” Mogensen were married on December 20, 1952, in Valley Forge, PA. Anona volunteered for the Red Cross and worked for many years for Crow Wing County, starting in the District Court and retiring in 1991 from the County Recorder’s office.
Anona loved watching the Minnesota Twins play and cheering on the Vikings every Sunday. She and Tony enjoyed taking the tours organized by Paulson Travel and spending time at Fish Lake near Mora. The last few years, Anona truly felt blessed to live at Edgewood in Baxter.
She will be missed by her daughter, Cheryl (Bill) Wachholder, of Mundlelein, IL; son, Pete (Monica Sergent) Mogensen, of Baxter; grandchildren, Mark (Jaylee) Wachholder and Ashley (Cameron) Zamost; great-grandchildren, Tyler Wachholder and Wyatt & Layla Zamost; sister-in-law, Lucille Schellin; and special friends, Bev Wicklund and Al & Diane Wedo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton “Tony”; siblings, Henry & Pat Reichhardt and Tom & Betty Reichhardt; and in-laws, Roy Schellin, Maury & Beverly Mogensen, and Walt & Evelyn Wolvert.
Anona’s family would like thank Dr. Vanessa Menghini and her nurse, Mary for 20 years of wonderful care as well as the staff of Edgewood Senior Living – Baxter (both assisted living and memory care) for all the love the past three years.
