Douglas Albert Dahlquist

Douglas Albert Dahlquist of Baxter, MN died of a heart attack at home on Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
Douglas was born February 2, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. His parents were Albert and Carrie Dahlquist. Douglas lived in South Minneapolis and graduated from Minnehaha Academy, the University of Minnesota and Bethel Theological Seminary.
Douglas was an ordained minister, pastoring churches in Duluth and Fergus Falls, MN and Lake Forest, IL. While in Illinois, he earned a PhD in Religion from Garrett Seminary and Northwestern University.
Douglas and Beverly Widen of Hopkins, MN were married in 1955. They have two daughters, Deborah Joy Olson (Timothy), San Diego, CA and Bonnie Jean Christensen (Scott), Minnetonka, MN. Survivors also include wife Beverly, grandson Jonathan Christensen, granddaughter Julie Christensen and sister Eleanor Dahlquist.
Douglas was a Pastor for fifteen years and later joined the faculty of Bethel Theological Seminary as Professor of Pastoral Care. From 1976 to 1996 he worked as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in outpatient mental health clinics. Douglas retired in 1996 after ten years of service with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Brainerd, MN.
Douglas enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and tennis. He sang in choral groups for over 70 years. He was an avid sports fan of all MN teams. He and Beverly recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by his family and many friends.
