Evelyn Lorraine Caughey
Evelyn L. Caughey, 90, passed away peacefully at home on December 7th, 2020. Evelyn Lorraine Caughey, daughter of Michael and Anna (Dechaine) Puetz, was born in Brainerd, MN. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1948 and was united in marriage to Francis M. Caughey in 1950. They were married for 58 years. The young couple moved to Minneapolis and settled in Crystal to raise a family. Evelyn was a member of St. Raphaelโs Church in Crystal for over 60 years. She was a magician with her sewing machine and knitting needles. She enriched the lives of everyone around her with clothes, baby blankets, curtains, prom dresses, wedding dresses, doll clothes and hand stitched quilts. She enjoyed growing roses, reading, traveling, bingo, golfing, bowling, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings. Evelyn is survived by children; Diane Layer of Brainerd, Bonnie Caughey of Crane Lake, Brian (Cheryl) Caughey of Maple Lake, Paul Caughey of Tierra Verde, FL; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; her sisters Marie Bragg of White Bear, Arlene Freeman of Brainerd, Darlene Dano of Nisswa and brother Raymond (Marilyn) Puetz of Brainerd, sister-in-law Marion Siegel of Brainerd, and sister-in-law Bonnie (Lynn) Olson of Brainerd and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Caughey and her sister Alvina Theis. Services and interment will take place in the spring.
