Gary Allen Dorn

Gary Allen Dorn, 70, of Pillager, Minnesota, passed away Nov. 4, 2019.

Gary was born in New Ulm, MN to Larry and Lydia Dorn on April 1, 1949. He went to school in Olivia, MN. Immediately after high school Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on Sept. 10, 1968. His years in service took him to Grand Forks, ND, where he deployed to Vietnam. After completing his enlistment, Gary was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1972. He spent many years working for Elk River Concrete, Olivia, MN, before stepping away to pursue a career in Golf Course Maintenance with The Olivia Golf Club. In 1998 his career took him to the Brainerd lakes area where he worked for Maddens Golf Club up until his death. 

Gary had a passion for golfing, fishing and thoroughly enjoyed feeding the wild animals that would frequent his property.

Gary is preceded in death by his father and mother, Larry and Lydia Dorn.

Gary is survived by his son Dustin Dorn and daughter-in-law Stephanie Dorn of Pillager; daughter Tiffany Pluntke and son-in-law Hans Pluntke, of Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren Kayli Dorn, Drew Dorn, Alexander Pluntke, Nathan Pluntke and Gabriela Pluntke.

The family of Gary Dorn wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Gary’s long time doctor, Dr. Stephen Hanske, Brainerd Lakes Area Hospice, and Edgewood Senior Living Baxter and Brainerd for their gentle and loving care of Gary up until his death.
