Harvey Allen Johnston, beloved father, grandfather, husband and faithful friend to many, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, in Brainerd.  Harv was born in Minneapolis on Sept. 14, 1944. He attended Benilde High School and U of M. He spent 40 years working as a packing engineer for Poly Foam, Inc. in Lester Prairie. He married the love of his life Pat in 1965 and together they raised four children, Tom, Amy, Steve and Katy, whom they lovingly called their TASK.

Family meant everything to Harv. He was so proud to be grandpa to Jayden, Addison, Hadley, Delaney, Rowan, Regan and James. As a bonus he embraced Amy’s stepdaughters Jackie, Alex and Betty and became great-grandpa to Kenton, Hayden and Piper.

Harv was an avid sports fan, serving many years on Brainerd Sports Boosters Board. He was a big supporter of Kinship Partners. The biggest part of his life beyond family was his AA family with 38 years of sobriety and support through Alcoholics Anonymous. Harv sponsored dozens of recovering people.

He leaves behind his wife Pat, children Tom, Amy (Kent) Hylton, Steve (Sara) Katy (Mary), seven grandkids, six siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations will be gratefully accepted for Lakes Area Alano Association, 7829 Hwy 210, Baxter, MN 56425, an organization close to his heart.
