Harvey Wing

Harvey Norman Wing, age 97, of Brainerd, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home. Harvey was born in Flasher, North Dakota on June 16, 1923 to Benedict & Bertha (Grimm) Wing. On March 28, 1945 he married the love of his life, Rachel Britton and together they had eight children.

Harvey served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a proud member of the Local VFW and American Legion. He worked for Potlatch for 41 years. Harvey loved the outdoors, he spent his time farming, coon and deer hunting. He went deer hunting until he was 95 years old! Harvey loved horses; many weekends included taking the family to horse shows. He was a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Harvey will be forever missed by his children: Dale (Patricia) of Brainerd, Janet (Dan) Quamme of Princeton, Linda (Ken) Borg of Brainerd, Mike (Jacki) of Brainerd, Randy (Julie) of Brainerd, Erue “Bunny” (Mike) Caughey of Brainerd, and Ben (Sheila) of Brainerd; 27 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; 27 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 74 years, Rachel; son, Curtis; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral service for Harvey will be on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 11AM at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center (512 S 8th St, Brainerd). Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 5-8PM at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center, and one hour prior to the service, Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
