Heidi Kay Mattson, age 74 of Deerwood, died on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Heidi was born to Laurence and Florence (Engberg) VanderStoep on June 20, 1945 in Braham Village. She spent many years working customer service at local banks. She also volunteered at St. Joseph’s Medical Center until she was no longer able. Heidi was a social butterfly who enjoyed shopping, reading, baking and stopping at ‘The Barn’ for a cup of soup and slice of pie. She was the best mom and grandma one could ask for, kindhearted, and her generosity knew no bounds as she was always preaching to ‘pay it forward’.

Heidi is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Marvin Mattson; two children, Michael (Laura) Mattson and Stephanie (Rich) Bestul; grandchildren, Stormie (David) Smith, Dylan (Tori) Mattson, Garrett, Hailee, and Jesse Rodman, Mallory and Zac Bestul, Jenna and Blair; 14 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Toni Christensen and Wanda Resemius; and one granddaughter, Ashley Mason.

A memorial service will he held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. A visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from 3-5:30 p.m.

There will also be a gathering Celebrating Heidi’s Life at the VFW in Garrison on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
