Helen Amundsen
COKATO -- Helen Amundsen, 80, Cokato, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Meeker County Hospital in Litchfield.
She was born Feb. 26, 1919, in Lonsdale. She attended Good Counsel Academy and graduated from St. Joseph's (St. Catherine's) School of Nursing. She was employed as assistant director of nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis from 1952 until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of Assumption Christian Mothers Group and Minnesota Restaurant Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Gudrun Schmitz, Brainerd; three sons, Forrest Amundsen, Cokato, Thomas Amundsen, Northridge, Calif., and Timothy Amundsen, Victoria; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia Lexa, Mary Kubes and Martha Madera; and a brother, Thomas Voracek.
Her husband, Bjarne, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Assumption of Richfield. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
Friends may call at Morris Nilsen Chapel in Richfield from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary service at 7 p.m., and Monday at the church for one hour before the services.
