Helen Joan (Mudgett) Smith

Helen Joan (Mudgett) Smith, age 82, Passed away on September 4th, 2020 at Bend Hospice House in Bend, Oregon. Helen was born April 17, 1938 in Pillager, MN to Harvey and Edythe (Delamater) Mudgett.  She graduated from Pillager High School in 1957 and later moved to California. She married Walt Manning and had a daughter Mary Marie. Helen’s first husband Walt, passed away and she then married her second husband, Dick Smith.

Helen enjoyed all her dogs, all named Bozo, who went everywhere with her and Dick. She loved collecting hummingbirds and embroidering for hours. Helen loved cooking and sharing her cooking skills. Helen and Dick enjoyed going to garage sales together and finding collectible treasures.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Mary (Eddie) Rodriguez of California and their four sons; sister Beverley Mudgett, brothers, Frank (Sherry) Mudgett, Stanley (Mary) Mudgett, Raymond (Debbie) Mudgett,sister in law Linda Mudgett,brother in law Bud Husman; cousin Yvonne Richer and family; and many nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Edythe Mudgett; husband Dick Smith; sisters Dorothy Husman and Carol Hoelz. brothers, Ben Mudgett, Donnie Mudgett and Harvey Mudgett; sister in law, Lee Mudgett and Sandy Mudgett; brother in law, Murray Hoelz.

Helen will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager, MN.
