James A. Fruth

James Fruth, age 79, of Pequot Lakes, MN passed away on October 28, 2020. Jim was born on July 6, 1941 in Sartell, MN to Martin and Frances Fruth. After graduating from St. Cloud State Univ. with degrees in Botany and Geology, Jim ultimately settled in Pequot Lakes, where he established Brambleberry Farm, pursuing his lifelong passion, propagating unique varieties of fruit. He was best known for specialty varieties of black raspberries and the jellies, honey and syrups he sold at local craft shows and farmers’ markets.

James had a kind-hearted, generous soul and remarkable capacity to pursue his passions with energy and zeal and was always eager to share his knowledge of horticulture with everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by daughter, Roseann (Marc) Cherenson, grandchildren Alexandra and Adam Cherenson, siblings Roman Fruth, Jeanette (Gerald) Trobec, Rosemary Willett, Dan Fruth and extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Martin Fruth.
