Ken was born June 30, 1933 in St. Cloud, the son of Michael F. and Irma (Kolling) Schroeder. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Ken furthered his education and studied electronics at Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis. He married Marlen Barnes on September 6, 1958 and moved to Brainerd in 1960 where the happy couple made their home and started a family. Later that same year, Ken opened Schroeder’s TV which is now Schroeder’s Appliance Center, where he continued to work until his passing. Ken was a longtime member of St. Francis Church and participated as a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. Ken enjoyed being social - whether meeting his buddies for coffee or for his monthly poker nights. He was an avid gardener who took pride in maintaining an immaculate lawn. Above all, Ken was a devoted family man who loved his wife and children. He was a wonderful and constant role model for them.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Colleen Musolf, Charles Schroeder, Karen (Mike) Schroeder-Stave, and Mary (Tom) Losness; grandchildren Joe (Laura) Musolf, Andrea (Leland Taft) Musolf, Eric (Jessica Snyder) Musolf; great-grandchild, Kenneth Musolf; brother, David Schroeder; and many nieces and nephews.
