Lavonne Allice Thesing went home to be with Jesus on November 16, 2020 at age 83 at her home in Brainerd, MN surrounded by her husband and children. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Halvorson-Taylor Life Events Center in Brainerd, MN. Burial will take place in the St. Mathias Cemetery in Brainerd, MN. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Halvorson-Taylor Life Events Center in Brainerd, MN. Funeral arrangements are with Halvorson-Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd, MN. Lavonne was born to the late Lloyd and Daisy Grams on March 26, 1934. She was united in marriage to Peter Thesing on October 14, 1954 and went on to have 9 children. She was a dedicated and loving mother who loved to cook for family and friends. She taught her children and grandchildren the value of serving others and making beautiful tables serving tea with her china. She had a passion for caring for large families who needed help fixing their homes. She loved to pioneer fundraising for Christian education scholarships for private schools, volunteering with groups such as Concerned Women of America, MADD, Happiness of Womanhood and Teen Challenge. LaVonne began working as a nurse in OB and pediatrics, home dialysis and with the mentally handicap at Brainerd State Hospital. For a while she made wedding cakes and did catering for weddings. Later she went on to open Forever Yours Bridal and Sugar Plum Gifts. For the last 20 years she and Peter managed Ruth Lake Resort. Lavonne and Peter started their married life in Wayzata, MN and in 1963 moved to their farm south of Brainerd where they raised their children while farming. She loved her Lord Jesus, lived for her family and cherished her country. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baxter. She will be dearly missed by her husband and family.
LaVonne is survived by loving husband, Peter Thesing; children, Gery (Linda) Thesing, Steven (Lois) Thesing, Karen (Jeffrey) Gildart, Charles (Julie) Thesing, Connie (Glen) Knowlen, Debbie (Ken) Sykes, Brian (Mary) Thesing, Donna Sutton, Pamela (Brian) Larson; 36 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Grams, Diane Schlegel, Jerry Grams, Glenda Hoheisel and Darrell Grams.
LaVonne was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Daisy Grams; brother, Richard Grams and son-in-law, Alex Sutton.
