Nancy Leigh Ferguson

Nancy Leigh (Balko) Ferguson, age 75, passed away Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at Essentia Health - St. Joseph’s Medical Center surrounded by family from complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Pneumonia.Nancy was born September 21st, 1943 in Redwood County to Ervin and Irene Balko. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1961 and went on to work as a CNA at St. Joseph’s Hospital and later at Lake Region Clinic. She married John Ferguson July 31, 1965 and had daughter Michelle Janeen born August 29th, 1974. Nancy is survived by her daughter Michelle (husband Jody) Hlavac. She was so proud of grandson Preston, and three honorary granddaughters Madi, Jaden & Kayla, they were the love of her life. Sisters Bette (husband Dick) Speed of Baxter, Patti Misener of New Brighton and brothers Everett (wife Laura) Balko of Cold Springs and Bob Balko of Lake Shore, Special niece Brenda Schaitberger of Baxter and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Troy Allen Speed. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 16th, at Bethany Good Samaritan Chapel at 1:30 pm.
