After graduation, she worked in waitressing in Long Prairie, MN restaurants, but soon realized her talent and interest was in seamstress work. An exceptional and patient seamstress, she made clothes for herself, her children, and many other family members and friends to include wedding dresses and countless alterations for retail clothing and bridal stores. Most recently, she enjoyed quilting, the results of which are in the hands of her children and grandchildren. She was also known for her wonderful cooking and baking. Smells of fresh rolls, bread, and banana bread often greeted family and friends as they entered her home. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and often treated people to her Polish coffee cakes.
Marie was united in marriage to David Klang on January 31, 1953 in Clarissa, MN. During their 66 years of marriage, they raised four children.
Marie and David retired in January of 1991 and started wintering in Florida where they enjoyed 17 years of developing friendships along with playing golf. They later spent 5 winters in Green Valley, AZ again making many friends and enjoying potlucks and golf. Marie was an avid bowler, golfer, and later on she enjoyed trips to the casino and was also a Twins baseball fan.
