Phyllis I. Giffin

Phyllis I. Giffin, age 93 of Crosby died on April 10, 2022 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. She was born on August 14, 1927 in Rock County, MN to Eddie and Pearl (Stickney) Marxen. Phyllis attended school in Pipestone, graduating from the Pipestone High School, class of 1945. She moved to Crosby-Ironton in 1957. She was employed with the Crosby-Ironton School District from 1969 to 1992. Phyllis was a member of the Crosby-Ironton Presbyterian Church in Crosby from 1957 until it closed in 2013. She was a Deacon and Elder during those years and for many years taught Sunday School. She then became a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood; the Cuyuna Range Women’s Club and past secretary; served as past Worthy Matron of the Evergreen Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 204; and current member of the Woodland Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Aitkin.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Barry of Waite Park; her daughter, Shelley (Thomas) Schuenke of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Shannon, Leslie, Joshua, Kallie and Kari; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Lois Voss of Maple Grove; son-in-law, Terry Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents; a daughter, Wendy Nelson; a brother, Harold Marxen and two sisters, Fern Rieger and Inez Lewis; and daughter-in-law, Joni Giffin.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. A visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
