Phyllis Jean Modl

Phyllis Jean Modl 94, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on December 16th. She passed away peacefully at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin, with family by her side. Phyllis was born on February 10th, 1926 to Andrew and Margaret Christenson in Eau Claire, WI. She married Eugene Modl in 1945. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Phyllis worked numerous jobs as a caretaker to the elderly, waitressing, cleaning motels and homes, presto and memorex inc. Her and Gene were also caretakers at Sherwood Forest Campground in Garrison, MN. She also volunteered at church over the years, and for meals on wheels in Brainerd, MN. Her life was her family, she loved them with all her heart and always stayed in close contact. She loved her church family and loved to serve the Lord. She loved to travel with her husband in their motor home in the winter months. She met many friends along the way who she stayed in close contact with. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, making lawn ornaments, and entertaining. She loved feeding everyone who came to visit. She loved watching and feeding the birds and watching the sunsets and starts. Her passion was writing poems and she kept a daily journal for many years. She will always be remembered for her loving, caring and her generosity. Phyllis is survived by her 4 children, Terry (Nancy) Modl, Julie (John) Wollenburg, Thomas (Sandy) Modl and Tim (Robyn) Modl, 11 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, 3 great great Grandchildren, 2 step Grandchildren, 1 sister Gloria Klopp, 1 brother, John (Nancy) Christenson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins that she thought the world of. She is proceeded in death by her husband Eugene of 63 years, son in law Wally Schaffenberger, sister Betty Seeley, 3 brother, Harold, Earl, Richard Christenson. Phyllis’s family is grateful for the excellent cares she received at Aicoda assisted living and at Aicota health care in Aitkin, MN. A special thank you to Pastor Larry Burgs, and the church family for being there for our mother, and to Riverwood Health Care Center for the wonderful care they provided. A special thank you to her best friend Deanna Gullickson, who would talk to our mother daily, and also a special thank you to the Brocks, who were such good friends over the years, and visited frequently. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2021.
