Ronald Curtis Hanson

Ronald Curtis Hanson, age 79, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Ron was born to William and Naomi (Hanson) Close on April 9,1940. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1958. He immediately joined the Air Force where he was in Electronic Communications and a Cryptographic Equipment Systems Technician. Ron proudly served his country for 27 years, retired in 1986. Ron cared deeply for his family and friends, cherishing the time he spent with them. He also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, reading, playing cribbage and hanging out at the local bars and cheering for his Minnesota Sports teams. He was a lifetime member of the Brainerd VFW Post 1647 and member of American Legion, Retired Enlisted Association and Disabled American Vets.
Ron is survived by his ex-wife Arlene Herrmann; son, Troy (fiancée, Audrey Risland) Hanson; daughter, Heidi (Randy) Kassulker; son, Trent (Danielle) Hanson; grandchildren, Sara Isle, Casper, Dexter and Ernie Hanson, William, Waylon, Monique, Jacob, Faith (finance, Billy Desrocher) and Emily Kassulker; Tia (Wilson) Jesus and Arden Hanson; 22 great grandchildren; siblings, Hank Hanson, Marcia Swierenga, Chuck Hanson, James Hanson, Kevin Close, Sanny Rangen, Scott Close; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, extended family members, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Clarence Close; brother, Toby Hanson; sister, Mary Jo Timmis; son, Tait Hanson; grandson, Charles Kassulker.
Ron’s family would like you to join them for a Celebration of life which will be held at the American Legion in Brainerd, MN, on July 21, 2019 from 1:00-4:00PM. Burial will be at MN State Veterans Cemetery, July 22, 2019 at 1:00PM.
