Thomas J. Doran

Thomas J. Doran, 91, of Baxter, died Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Northern Lakes Senior Living. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Tom was born February 14, 1929 in Plummer, the son of Peter and Mathilda (Bring) Doran. After graduating from high school, Tom enlisted in the U.S Navy and served for four years. He continued his education following his honorable discharged and graduated from University of Minnesota in 1954. He and his wife, Marguerite moved to Brainerd and in 1956 purchased what is now Nelson – Doran Funeral Home.

Tom loved his family, enjoyed traveling with Marguerite, and did not pass up many chances to hunt or fish. He was patient, hard-working, and always up for a laugh. He was a good man who led by example.

Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marguerite; children, Kevin (Teresa), Michael (Wendy) and Kathy (Mark Barta); and grandchildren, Emma, Eva, Nicole, Megan, and Abby. He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings. Nelson – Doran Funeral Home www.nelson-doran.com 218.829.4755
