Tillie Marie Dale

Tillie Marie Dale, age 90, of Brainerd, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society Bethany. Funeral services will be held at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. A visitation will take place at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 and for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
Tillie was born on July 22, 1930 in Brainerd, MN to Tom and Mary (Thompson) Thorson. She married Lyman Dale on August 7, 1949 in Brainerd and together they raised four children: Lynette, Diane, David, and Beverly.
The road for her was getting rough and the hills became hard to climb, so God gently closed her loving eyes and whispered, “My peace is thine!”
Tillie was a proud resident of Brainerd for her whole life. She was a homemaker and gardener, and she was known for her gracious hospitality. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Tillie loved Jesus. Her life was built on love, faith, and hope. She served her church as a Sunday School teacher for many years and she continued serving others for many more years. And she served as she loved, with dedication of a loyal servant, until physical obstacles slowed her down.
Her heart had the greatest capacity to love and she showed true love through her selfless devotion and tireless ability to care for all of her family and for all others who needed help.
She loved meeting people, laughing, and smiling. All who met her enjoyed her loving spirit. Just being alive…just being herself was her greatest gift to all of us. She was a courageous example and an inspiration to all who knew of her faith.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lynette (Richard) Gocken, Diane Cunningham of Kissimmee, FL, David (Robin) Dale of St. Cloud, and Beverly (Greg) Simmonds of Annandale; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Ruby Tautges. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyman; 2 siblings; and one great-granddaughter.
Arrangements have been completed by Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
