Viola Ackerson

Viola Irene Ackerson, age 98, of Pillager, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 4, 2021. Viola was born on September 5, 1922 in Walker to George & Grace (Whipple) Wilson. She married Roy Ackerson in Walker on May 10, 1943, and together they raised five children.

Left to cherish Viola’s memory are her children: Melvin (Charlotte) Ackerson of Long Prairie, Lucille (Roy) Rogers of Pillager, Arlene Schmit of Pillager, Shirley (Ron) Hines of Pillager and Linda (Rick) Wilcox of Pillager; sister, Harriet Rassler of Pillager; grandchildren: Lee Ackerson, John Ackerson, Jean Riski, Susan Ackerson, Brad Rogers, Carrielyn Masterson, Keith Rogers, Steven Rogers, Mike Rogers, Doug Rogers, Tama Exsted, Tina Jackson, David Schmit, James Hines, Brian Hines and Tyler Wilcox; 28 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Roy; son-in-law, Gary Schmit; 4 brothers; 1 sisiter; grandson, Nathan Ackerson; great grandson, Jeremy Ackerson.

Funeral service for Viola will be held on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 11AM at Halvorson Taylor Life Events Center (512 S 8th St., Brainerd). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bridgeman Cemetery.
