Walter T. Koep, 88, of Brainerd, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

Walter Koep was born March 16, 1931 to Math and Matilda Koep in Ottertail County. On May 7, 1951, he was united in marriage with Mary Lukes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, Minn. Walter is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Jeffrey Koep, PhD. Kerry C. Koep, J.D., and Maureen Koep O’Phelan, J.D.; and one sister, Dolores Marquette. He is cherished in memory by daughter-in-law, Julie Koep; son-in-law, Michael O’Phelan; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; and a daughter-in-law, Hiafa Koep.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nelson – Doran Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday morning one hour prior to Mass.
