For over 30 years, Kinship Partners have been serving area youth with quality mentors to help support and nurture our youth. In recent months, life looks different for all of us, and for nonprofits this holds true as well. With social distancing our mentors have had to find new ways to connect with their matches, fundraisers have been canceled as our agency tries to find new ways to help support our program, and with uncertain days ahead it leaves us unsure as to what the next steps should be.
One thing that has not changed is the fact that children in our area still need us; in fact, they may need us now more than ever. For us here at Kinship, this means we need to make it clear that we are still here, and we have no plans on going anywhere! Despite all the recent changes, it is still our goal to help support our youth. It is still our mission to transform our community through the power of mentoring. And it is still our passion to match children with wonderful, supportive mentors like we always have. One of the things that is so special about our program is all the support we have had from the community throughout the years. Whether it is through businesses and private donors who help support our program financially, schools who have opened the doors to our Lunch Buddies Program, mentors who have stepped up to the plate and decided to help make a difference for a child, or those who have attended our fundraisers, we truly could not do it without you. We also cannot get through the days ahead without your continued support and we as well need you now more than ever.
As we navigate this uncharted territory together, we ask that families continue to refer children who could use some extra support during this time to us so we can match them with a mentor. We ask that those who have a heart for kids contact us to become a mentor, if you have been on the fence about it, now is as good a time as ever! If you are so able, please consider us in your giving. And as we come up with new fundraising opportunities, we would love nothing more than your help with making them a success. For the first year ever Kinship is having a “Bikers for Kids Benefit Ride”, and we continue to explore new and fun ways to come together and raise money for our programs.
So yes, we are still here! And with your support we plan on being better than ever!
