Reader Opinion: Things that make you go, ‘Huh?’
Bernie Sanders and the Democrats had another go round Tuesday and that left me on pins and needles for Wednesday’s debate. I'm relieved that not all the candidates are confirmed socialists because some of the stuff they were talking about defies logic.
It was ridiculous that the candidates were debating free health care for migrants when 44 million Americans do not have any health care at all and another 38 million have inadequate health care.
How come none of the candidates were asked about their remedy for the national debt? They all wanted to spend more money that we don't have for more programs that we can't afford -- $23 trillion guys and gals, we're going to have to deal with that sooner or later.
If they wanted to drive a bigger race wedge between black and white Americans "reparations for slavery" should certainly do that. Money is at the root of all evil, especially when it's taxpayer money. Only God can hold us accountable for the sins of our distant past, it's not up to the Democratic Party. "The practice of forgiveness is our most important contribution to the healing of the world". Look it up. And if that doesn't work $100 billion ought to do it.
Also, where's the American flag at these Democratic debates? Does it's presence on stage embarrass the party candidates? Did Colin Kaepernick phone the DNC and suggest it be removed? Things that make you go, “Huh?”
