Recently our United States President used profanity that was carried by many news media outlets, as he challenged the National Football League over the issue of Anthem protest.

These same news outlets are not allowed to repeat such profanity in conformance with the higher standards to which they must adhere, as enforced by a federal agency, such as the Federal Communications Commission. I have not seen our Dispatch repeat profanity so I suspect they and all newspaper media must or do conform to these higher standards as well.

We seem to have two standards of conduct in our great land: one where the president can say what they wish and it can be carried by the news media, yet the news media themselves cannot repeat such profanity.

Seems like a double standard. Is it time to establish this higher standard as the acceptable standard?
