Reader Opinion: How we are raised
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35.
I heard a story once about a man from the country who was visiting a man in New York City. As they were walking down the street, the country man asked, "Do you hear that cricket?" The New Yorker thought he was crazy, all he could hear what he was use to, the city sounds. The country man bend down and found the cricket. The moral of the story is: what you are accustomed to will be what you are about.
Dorothy Law Nolte wrote a poem in 1972 that is awesome! "Children Learn What They Live." It's almost a Beatitudes of raising children. Nineteen "If children live with..." examples of the way a child is treated growing up and the outcome of how they will live and react later in life. Download it and use it. It starts out more on the negative and works down to the more positive. A very good tool to check how you're raising your children and check to see how you were raised.
I'll leave you with the love chapter, 1 Cor. 13, which ends with, " And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
Have a very blessed Saint Valentine's Day! God bless.
